POWNAL, P.E.I. — Islanders are getting ready for pro hockey camps next month by skating together at the Pownal Sports Centre.

The list of Thursday's participants included Josh Currie (Edmonton Oilers), Ross Johnston (New York Islanders), Antoine Bibeau (San Jose Barracuda), Zack MacEwen (Vancouver Canucks/Utica Comets) and Ryan MacKinnon (Worcester Railers). Noah Dobson, who is looking to make the jump from junior to the New York Islanders' lineup, was also there.

UPEI Panthers’ forward Kameron Kielly will be attending the Carolina Hurricanes’ camp. His Panthers’ teammates also at the practice included forward Filip Rydstrom and defenceman Tanner McCabe.

Charlottetown Islanders' centre Nikita Alexandrov will be heading to the St. Louis Blues’ camp after being drafted in the second round of June’s NHL draft. His Isles’ teammates Liam Peyton and Cole Edwards, both 19, also skated in Pownal. Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Western Capitals' defenceman Jesse Annear also attended.

Former Acadia Axemen defenceman Matthew Pufahl, a Saskatoon native, was also part of the group. He played in the ECHL and in Slovakia last year after finishing his four-year university career at Acadia in 2017-18. Tim Gould, a 19-year-old Riverview, N.B., native, also skated in Pownal. He played the past few seasons with the Notre Dame Hounds of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.
