VAL-D'OR, QUE. - Daniel Hardie scored a pair of goals, including the winner, to lead the Charlottetown Islanders past the Val-d'or Foreurs 4-2 Sunday night in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
The goals were Hardie's 29th and 30th of the season.
The Islanders bounced back following an 8-1 defeat Saturday night in Rouyn-Noranda.
David Noel started the scoring, putting the Foreurs up 1-0 at the 19:41 mark of the first period on the power play.
Hardie tied it up with his first goal of the night 4:19 into the second period. Jordan Maher and Kevin Gursoy assisted on the power-play marker.
Lukas Cormier put the Islanders up 2-1 with his ninth goal at 11:53 of the second period. Thomas Casey and Noah Laaouan picked up the assists.
Hardie's second of the night gave the Islanders a two-goal lead at 14:50 of the second period. Maher and Colin Van Den Hurk assisted on the power-play goal.
Val-d'Or pulled to within a goal when Jacob Garcher scored on the power play at 15:34 of the second period.
Casey added an insurance marker with his 10th goal at 8:01 of the third period. Hardie and goalie Isaak Pelletier picked up the assists.
Pelletier registered the win in goal while Mathieuu Marquis took the loss.
Val-d'Or outshot the Islanders 32-30.
With the win, the Islanders improve to 27-13-2-2 for 58 points, moving them past idle Cape Breton into third place in the Maritimes Division.
Val-d'Or falls to 15-25-4-1.
