Canadiens prospect Cole Caufield is among 28 players invited to the USA Hockey junior team camp to be held Dec. 6-12 at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Mich. Twenty-five of those players will be selected to play in the world junior championships and will depart for Edmonton on Dec. 13. The world championships begin on Christmas Day.

Another Canadiens prospect, Northeastern University defenceman Jayden Struble, attended the preliminary camp earlier this year but was not invited to the final camp.

Caufield is among 10 players returning from last year’s team and is expected to play a key role this year.

All but two members of the team have ties to U.S. college hockey. The outliers are Hamilton Bulldogs forward Alex Kaliyev and Nick Robertson, a Peterborough Petes winger who made his pro debut in the summer when he played four playoff games for the Toronto Maple Leafs.
