Calgary Flames announcer Beesley went to the hospital after falling off the stage at RoundUp Music Fest on Wednesday night.
Global News reported that his family told the station that Beesley broke “the majority of his ribs,” his collarbone and his wrist. They also reported that Beesley, who was announcing the event, slipped off the edge of the stage during a charity cheque presentation.
RoundUp is an annual charity concert held during Stampede. This year’s headliners were Blondie and Billy Idol.
Beesley, who is known only by his radio nickname, has been the booming public address announcer for the Calgary Flames since 1996 and was a host on several Calgary radio stations before he became a SAIT instructor.
Over 50 of his Facebook friends had posted to Beesley’s Facebook wall to wish him well since the news of his fall was reported by Global Calgary.
Caitie Lawrence, a spokeswoman for Press + Post, the media contact for RoundUp, said in an email that Beesley is expected to make a full recovery.
