MIRAMICHI, N.B. – Three different players scored milestone goals to help the Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals get back to the .500 mark.
Ed McNeill, Kayden Peck and Marc Richard scored their first regular-season goals as a Western Capital in a 7-2 victory over the Miramichi Timberwolves on Sunday afternoon.
It was a bounce-back effort for the Caps after dropping a 9-6 decision to the St. Stephen Aces on Friday night.
The Caps improved to 2-2-0 (won-lost-overtime losses) in the two-week-old MHL (Maritime Junior Hockey League) regular season.
Next action for the Caps is team’s home opener against the Edmundston Blizzard on Saturday. Puck drop at Eastlink Arena is 7 p.m.
At the Miramichi Civic Centre, Richard scored a second goal and added an assist while Brodie MacArthur had a goal and two helpers to lead the Caps with three points each. Cameron Roberts and Kallum Muirhead rounded out Summerside’s scoring while other helpers went to TJ Shea (3), Michal Sivek (2), Peck, Bennett MacArthur, Kyle Nichol and Colby MacArthur.
Charles-Andre Cypihot and Eric Pelletier answered for the winless Timberwolves (0-3-0).
The Caps built period leads of 2-1 and 6-2.
Daniel Thompson earned the goaltending win, and Tanner Somers was between the pipes for Miramichi.
