Canadiens general manager Marc Bergevin announced Thursday that the team has agreed to terms on a three-year, NHL entry-level contract with forward Jesse Ylönen.
The Canadiens selected the 20-year-old right-winger in the second round (35th overall) of the 2018 NHL Draft. In 53 games this season with the Lahti Pelicans in the Finnish Elite League, Ylönen had 12-10-22 totals and was minus-20.
Ylönen was born in Arizona when his father, Juha, was playing for the Coyotes. Ylönen has played 106 games with the Pelicans over the last two seasons, posting 25-24-49 totals.
Ylönen’s father played six seasons in the NHL with the Coyotes, Tampa Bay Lightning and Ottawa Senators, posting 26-76-102 totals in 341 games.
