RED DEER, Alta. — Prince Edward Island’s Hilarie Gaudet and Lexie Murphy scored in the shootout and Maggie Johnston stopped both of Newfoundland and Labrador skaters Friday in a 4-3 victory as P.E.I. finished ninth at the Canada Games in Red Deer, Alta.

Heidi Lauwerijssen had a power-play goal and an assist in regulation for P.E.I. while Gaudet and Carly Thompson also scored. Chloe McCabe and Murphy each had an assist while Johnston stopped 30 shots.

The game was scoreless after the first period while the teams went to the third tied 2-2.
