CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – Colton Heffley and Tanner Williams each had a goal and an assist to pace the Dalhousie Tigers to a 5-2 victory over the UPEI Panthers Saturday at MacLauchlan Arena.
The Tigers picked up the key two points as the two teams are in a battle with Moncton for the final two playoff berths in the Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey conference.
Former P.E.I. Rocket Kelly Bent shorthanded, Mike Evelyn on the power play and Alex Pawelczyk also scored in the victory. Chandler Yakimowicz, Myles McGurty, Luke Madill, Aiden Jamiesn and Reid Murphy had assists.
Darcy Ashley on the power play and Cody Payne scored for the Panthers with Gabe Guertler drawing assists on both goals. Chad Labelle and Kameron Kielly each added a helper.
Corbin Boes made 37 saves for the win while Matthew Mancina allowed five goals on 22 shots in the loss.
The game was scoreless through the first period while Dal took a 2-1 lead to the third. UPEI was 1-for-5 on the power while the Tiger went 1-for-3.
Dalhousie improved to 3-15-1 while UPEI fell to 5-14-1.
The Panthers travel to Antigonish, N.S., on Friday to play the St. FX X-Men.
