EDMUNDSTON, N.B. – The Edmundston Blizzard ended the Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals’ winning streak in thrilling fashion Saturday night.
Dallas Maurovic’s even-strength goal with eight seconds remaining broke a 4-4 tie, and lifted the Blizzard to a 5-4 come-from-behind win before 2,825 fans at the Jean Daigle Centre.
After the first period ended in a 1-1 tie, the Caps led 3-1 after 40 minutes, and took a 4-3 lead with 5:14 remaining in the third period.
Sam King’s hat trick led Edmundston, which improved to 7-6-1 (won-lost-overtime losses). Logan Johnston (1-2), who assisted on the game-winning goal, netted the other Edmundston goal.
Kallum Muirhead (1-1), Sam Meisenheimer (1-1), Brodie MacMillan and Cam Roberts answered for the Eastlink North Division-leading Capitals (9-3-0), who entered the game having won eight straight games. Conor MacEachern, Calum MacPherson and Noah Massie drew assists.
Overall, the Caps held a slim 34-33 shots-on-goal advantage. Francis Asselin earned the goaltending win over Dominic Tmej.
The game’s three stars were:

The Caps visit the Grand Falls Rapids (4-5-1) on Sunday at 3 p.m.
