It’s something Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals head coach Billy McGuigan takes great pride in.
Each home game
McGuigan has partnered with Marc Morrison of Century 21 for Year 2 of Billy’s Battalion, which sees 12 tickets awarded to families for each Caps’ home game in the MHL (Maritime Junior Hockey League).
“In the past we have given the tickets, for example, to people who may have lost their belongings in a fire,” explained McGuigan. “We just want to give them an uplifting opportunity to spend the evening with their family, and enjoy a Caps’ game on us.
“It could be a family that could not afford it, or may not have the opportunity to go. There are times when we run into a family of four or five, and say, ‘Are you guys interested in going to a Caps’ game?’”
Kids visit dressing room
McGuigan added every effort is made to have the kids of all families visit the dressing room as part of the experience.
“They get to come in and meet the players, and say hello,” added McGuigan.
