Boston Leire scored a pair of goals to lead the Acadia Axemen past the UPEI Panthers 6-3 Friday night in Atlantic University Sport men’s hockey action.

Chance Braid and Michael Clarke each had a goal and an assist to help pace the Axemen attack.

Owen MacDonald and Ryan Foss had the other Acadia goals as the Axemen improved to 11-5-1.

Cody Payne, Brent Andrews and Beau McCue (1-1) replied for the Panthers (4-12-1).

Picking up assists for UPEI were Kameron Kielly, Gabe Guertler, Ryan MacKinnon and Marcus Power.

Acadia outshot UPEI 27-24. Matt Mahalak started in goal for the Panthers while Robert Steeves tended net for the Axemen.

UPEI is back in action today to face the Saint Mary’s Huskies in Halifax at 7 p.m.
