CARDIGAN, P.E.I. – The P.E.I. Eagles and Scotia Storm split a pair of under-19 softball games Saturday in Cardigan.
Scotia won the opener 2-1 while P.E.I. took Game 2 11-0 in five innings. The two teams will compete at the Eastern Canadian championships in Charlottetown Aug. 24-26.

The Storm won the defensive battle as P.E.I. were unable to string hits together, stranding 10 runners on base.
Margaret Reynolds was the tough-luck losing pitcher. She allowed two runs, one of them earned, on seven hits and four walks while striking out three in a complete-game effort.
Jessica Turbide was 1-for-1 for the Eagles while Haley Savidant was 1-for-3 with a triple and a run scored. Kassie Birt was 1-for-2 with a walk and Sydney Halliwell was 1-for-3.

Halliwell threw a no-hitter for the victory with the only blemish being a third-inning walk. She struck out three.
Kaelyn White was 2-for-2 with two walks and a pair of runs as the Island bats came alive.
Halliwell and Turbide were each 2-for-3 with a walk and a run. Eryn Hustler went 1-for-1 with a double, three walks and scored twice while Sarah Murphy was 1-for-3 with a double and a run and Haley Savidant was 1-for-1 with a run.
