CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – UPEI Panthers graduate Mathew Maione leads the KHL in scoring.

The defenceman from Toronto has six goals and 19 assists for 25 points in 21 games for Dinamo Riga in Latvia. He is averaging 20:44 of ice time per game for Dinamo (9-11-1-0).

The 27-year-old blue-liner played four seasons for the Panthers (2010-11 to 2013-14) before turning pro. He played in the ECHL and in Slovakia and Finland before joining Dinamo.

Maione’s teammate Videll Linus is tied for second in the league in scoring with 23 points with Saint Petersburg teammates Hersley Patrik and Nikita Gusev.

Gordie Dwyer’s Dinamo Minsk in Belarus are 4-13-3-0, last in the 12-team West Conference.
