Letner takes over as Privateers varsity squad's head coach

CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – Steve Letner is the new head coach of the Charlottetown Privateers varsity football team.

A native of Columbus, Ohio, Steve and his wife, Beverley moved to P.E.I. in 2014 with their two children, Stephen, 7, and Brynley, 5. 

Steve is the assistant head coach and defensive co-ordinator for the Holland College Hurricanes, is the head coach of the under-16 provincial team and is a member of the Football P.E.I. tackle football committee. He loves the game and competitiveness of football and wants to see the sport grow on P.E.I. 

“We’re very excited to have someone with his experience and passion for football take over the head coaching duties at the varsity level,” said Privateers general manager Jamie Gosbee. “We’re confident that he’ll be able to help grow the game here in Charlottetown and lead the team for years to come.”

Devon Sparman is the assistant head coach of the Charlottetown Privateers varsity football team.

Steve brings Devon Sparman, a fellow Holland College football coach, with him as an assistant.  Sparman is a co-offensive co-ordinator with Holland College who is from Ontario and played football for St. FX.
