The Kraft Celebration Tour and TSN come to Charlottetown on Thursday when the two land at Victoria Park.
Tour officials will present the P.E.I. Privateers football club with $25,000 during SportsCentre’s live broadcast featuring on-air personalties Jennifer Hedger and Nabil Karim.
The event is open to the public and runs 5 to 8 p.m., and includes a free barbecue, food sampling, entertainment and sports skill events.
The Privateers club was chosen as one of 10 finalists across the country. The $25,000 will be used to upgrade the Birchwood Field on Longworth Avenue in Charlottetown as the Privateers home field for practice and games.
The club might win an additional $75,000 when results of voting, held July 20 and 21 for the each of the 10 national entries, are revealed in late August.
Registration is open for the Privateers varsity (18 years old and under) and bantam (14 years old and under) programs.
Practices are Tuesdays and Thursdays, at 5 p.m., at Birchwood Field.
