Crowe, stout defence key to Holland College football win

Quarterback Brady Crowe threw for 166 yards and two touchdowns and ran for two more as the Holland College Hurricanes thumped the UNBSJ Seawolves 49-0 in Atlantic Football League action Saturday in Fredericton, N.B.

Receiver Tyler Majuary had 115 yards receiving and a touchdown, while Cole Brydges had two blocks leading to Hurricanes scores and a receiving touchdown as Holland College went to 1-1 in the standings.

Defensive tackle Brandon Wilson had four tackles, defensive ends Joshua Feaster and AJ Fields each chipped in three solo tackles and a quarterback sack. Defensive tackle Solomon Sarfo-Boateng recovered two fumbles and had a touchdown.

’Canes head coach Ross Young said the defence took control of the game early on, allowing the Hurricane offence to do its thing.

“The players prepared well, fixed some mental mistakes in their game and executed our game plan against a very gritty Seawolves team,” said Ross.

Punter and place kicker Brennan Davis punted for 160 yards and had nine points from one field goal, extra-point conversions and a rouge.

Fernando Fuller rushed for 51 yards and a touchdown. Teammate Andre Goulbourne ran for 71 yards

Up next, the Hurricanes take on the Dalhousie Tigers on Saturday in Halifax, N.S. Game time is 6 p.m.
