CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — He will have to overcome the outside post position, but adversity does not seem to be a problem for E R Quinn lately as he faces the featured event Thursday at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
The eight-dash program gets underway at 6:30 p.m., with the featured event lining up in Race 7. E R Quinn leaves from Post 6 in the field of as many with $2,400 in purse money on the line for trainer Jeff Holmes and owner Orwell Bay Stable of Orwell. The Total Truth pacer was a winner in his latest outing after recovering from an early break in stride. Corey MacPherson gets the catch-driving assignment.
Jetster is fresh off a win and gets rail control as he takes a hike in class for trainer-driver Marc Campbell while Winter Blast (driven by Jason Hughes) gets a second crack at opposition below the preferred ranks.
Race analyst Les MacIsaac sees the way to the winner's circle running through E R Quinn.
"E R Quinn made an early break last week then was the victim of interference and still won," MacIsaac said. "How do you go against him after a performance like that? You don't."
Also in the field is Harbourlite Jerry (Steven Shepherd), Tempo Seelster (Ken Murphy) and Confident Fella (Dale Spence).
A group of seven three-year-old trotters meet in Race 2 for a $1,650 purse. Other top entries include Dustylane Thunder (Adam Merner) and Hard Case (Mark Bradley).
