CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – The Atlantic Provinces Harness Racing Commission has announced that Brett Revington will be the newly director of racing.
Revington replaces Paul Hogan, who has held the position since January 2005. Revington has previously held positions at track and associations across North America starting with the Woodbine Entertainment Group and Western Fair Raceway in Ontario. Revington then took over as the first racing experience manager at Red Shores in June 2010 and stayed in that role until announcing his resignation in late 2013, citing family reasons.
“Over vacation my wife and I thought about it a lot and we decided to make the change now,” Revington said in 2013. “My kids are five and eight now and are getting involved with a lot of extracurricular activities and I want to be involved with that. (Working at Red Shores) was a big time commitment and at this stage I want to be more involved with the kids.”
Revington then took a position as director of racing for Pompano Park Raceway in Florida and was most recently the bureau director for Standardbred Racing for the state of Pennsylvania. Revington will be working from the Atlantic Province’s Harness Racing Commission office in Kensington.

Island-connected horses continue to perform well across the country.
Inspector Murdoch was a recent winner in a $15,000 claiming event in 1:58.1 at Flamboro Downs in Dundas, Ont. Kyle Fellows now trains the son of Pang Shui for owners Wade MacDonald of Stanhope and Nova Scotian Susanne MacKeigan.
Saulsbrook Coral captured a $7,000 claiming event at Flamboro in 1:58.4 for trainer Patrick Shepherd and driver Robert Shepherd and has Montague native Austin Sorrie listed to drive in her next start Friday at Western Fair Raceway.
Cartoon Daddy was a winner this week in 1:53.1 at Woodbine Mohawk Park in a $11,000 class for trainer Rachel Andrew, originally of Milton. Andrew had raced the horse on the Atlantic circuit in 2018 before moving back to central Canada.
Milestones
Charlottetown native Wally Hennessey is on the cusp of an elite milestone. Racing in Pompano Park in Florida, Hennessey is 14 wins shy of 10,000 lifetime wins making him just the 17th driver ever to hit that plateau.
Kingston native James MacDonald will hit a milestone of his own at some point in 2019 with just 44 more victories needed to hit 2,000 lifetime trips to the winner’s circle.
