EDMONTON, Alta. — Charlottetown’s Josh Currie is going to the NHL.
The last captain of the P.E.I. Rocket was called up by the Edmonton Oilers Monday evening from the AHL’s Bakersfield Condors.
The 26-year-old forward leads Bakersfield with 24 goals and six power-play markers this season. He has 37 points and 13 penalty minutes with a plus-5 rating in 49 games.
The alternate captain has three straight 20-goal seasons for the Condors. The five-foot-10, 172-pound Currie signed with Edmonton on July 18, 2018, after three seasons with the Condors.

Currie played four seasons with the Rocket and a season with the Summerside Western Capitals.
Edmonton placed forwards Jujhar Khaira and Jesse Pulijujarvi on injured reserve and activated defenceman Andrej Sekera.
The Oilers next game is at home against the Arizona Coyotes on Tuesday night.
