Seven men’s teams, six women’s clubs vying for P.E.I. club curling titles

Action begins in O'Leary on Friday

O'LEARY, P.E.I. —

All seven curling clubs on P.E.I. will be represented in the men’s curling club championship, and six of the clubs will have a women’s team representative.

The men’s and women’s champions will represent P.E.I. at the national curling club championship. Dates and location for the nationals have not been announced, but in the 11-year history of the event, the national championship has typically been held in November.

Teams in the provincial curling club championship play a single round-robin format, with the top three teams in the men’s and women’s divisions advancing to the playoffs.
Men’s teams get the competition started at 10 a.m. on Friday, with Charlottetown playing Cornwall, Western meeting Crapaud and the Silver Fox playing the host Maple Leaf team.
The Silver Fox men will be back out for the 2 p.m. draw against Montague. The six women’s teams are also in action at 2 p.m. with Maple Leaf playing Cornwall, Western playing Crapaud and Silver Fox against Montague. Six men’s teams are in action at 6 p.m. Friday. There are draws Saturday and Sunday at 9 a.m. 12 noon, 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.
Tie-breakers or playoffs commence Monday morning.
