Chevies use big fourth inning to tie KCBL final

MORELL, P.E.I. — The Morell Chevies erupted for 10 runs in the fourth inning Sunday to turn a 2-0 deficit into an 12-2 victory over The Alley Stratford Athletics in the King County Baseball League final.

The best-of-seven series is tied 2-2.

Game 5 is scheduled for Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in Stratford.
Sunday, the A’s opened the scoring in the second inning on a Jacob Smith RBI single that scored Corey Dougay. They would tack on a second run in the third inning with Johnny Arsenault crossing the plate on a Grant Grady single.

Stratford starter Dan O’Shea ran into trouble in the fourth inning.

Five of the first six Chevy batters singled and, after two consecutive walks that made the score 5-2, Dougay replaced O’Shea on the mound. An RBI walk to Logan Gallant would push across another run and consecutive singles from Jarrod Laybolt, Darcy Affleck and Desi Doyle would push across four more runs.

The Chevies would add two runs in the fifth inning to close out the scoring.

Troy Coffin scattered four hits to pick up the win. The Chevies were led at the plate by Doyle (3-for-3 with three RBI), Gallant, Coffin and Affleck all going 2-for-3 with two RBI while Scott Ellsworth went 2-for-2.

Arsenault, Grady, Dougay and Smith has the Stratford hits.
