SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — The Edmundston Blizzard struck for five goals over the final 40 minutes en route to a 5-2 victory over the Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals on Friday night.
The Maritime Junior Hockey League game was played before 2,575 fans to the Jean Daigle Centre in Edmundston, N.B.
Isaac Chapman scored twice to lead the Blizzard. Aaron Brown (1-1), Tommy Bertrand and Chad Wilson added single goals to help the Blizzard improve to 2-1-0 (won-lost-overtime losses). Chrystopher Collin and Tristan Gagnon each contributed a pair of assists.
Kallum Muirhead (1-1) and Bennett MacArthur replied for the Caps (1-1-0). Brodie MacArthur assisted on both tallies.

The Caps led 1-0 after the opening period, but the Blizzard took a 2-1 advantage into the second intermission.
Overall, the Blizzard, who closed out the scoring into an empty net with 1:46 remaining, outshot the Caps 36-32. Ewan MacDonald earned the goaltending win over Dominik Tmej.
The Caps went 1-for-5 on the power play and Edmundston was 0-for-4.

The Capitals continue a three-game weekend in Fredericton against the Red Wings (2-1-0) on Saturday at 7 p.m., and visit the Grand Falls Rapids (0-2-0) on Sunday at 3 p.m.
The Caps’ home opener is against the defending-champion Yarmouth Mariners (4-0-0) on Saturday, Sept. 28, at 7 p.m.
