Nahziah Carter scored 16 points to lead a balanced attack as Washington snapped a nine-game losing streak with an 87-52 victory against California on Saturday afternoon in Seattle.

Isaiah Stewart added 15 points for the Huskies (13-15 overall, 3-12 Pacific-12 Conference), who improved to 2-11 since point guard Quade Green, a transfer from Kentucky, was declared academically ineligible.

Jaden McDaniels scored 12 points and had game-high totals of seven rebounds and five assists for the Huskies. Marcus Tsohonis added 11 points and Hameir Wright and Sam Timmins each scored nine.

Guard Matt Bradley led the Golden Bears (11-16, 5-9) with 14 points, the only player with more than seven. California was coming off its first away victory of the season, 66-57 Wednesday at Washington State. The Golden Bears were 0-7 on the road and 0-3 on neutral courts entering that game.

Washington's zone defense held the Golden Bears to 23.9 percent shooting (11 of 46), including 2 of 13 from 3-point range. Cal went without a field goal for a span of 15:13 -- the final 11:33 of the first half and the opening 3:40 of the second.

California shot 19 percent from the field in the first half (4 for 21), staying in the game by making all 16 of their free throws attempts.

The Huskies, who shot 51.9 percent for the game (27 of 52) and made half of their 22 3-point tries, trailed 20-17 with 8:40 left in the first half before going on a 12-0 run.

A 3-pointer by RaeQuan Battle gave Washington a 43-24 lead with 1:10 remaining in the half and they took a 43-26 lead into the intermission.

The Huskies opened the second half with a 17-3 run to take a 60-29 lead.

Remarkably, two of Washington's three conference victories have come by 30 or more points. The Huskies defeated visiting Southern California 72-40 on Jan. 5 in Green's last game before being suspended.
