CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — Seth Nicholson’s single scored Jason MacLean for the winning run as the Northside Gill Construction Brewers defeated Grant Thornton Tigers 3-2 in eight innings recently in Kings County Baseball League action.

Isaac Compton picked up the win in relief of Nigel Fisher. The two combined to limit the Tigers to six hits while striking out eight. Tyler Johnson, who struck out six, suffered the complete game loss for the Tigers.

Compton was also the top Brewers batter, going 2-for-2 with two stolen bases. Jayden Maclean broke a scoreless game in the fifth with a single to put the Brewers up 2-0.

The Tigers tied the score in their half of the fifth inning with Elijah Hood (1-for-3 with two stolen bases) and Ben Ladner (1-for-1 with two walks and a stolen base) leading them at the plate.

Tigers 6, Jays 4

Hood went 3-for-4 with a double, two singles and a stolen base to lead the Tigers to a 6-4 victory over the Charlottetown Jays oldtimers squad.

Jordan Duffy went 2-for-5 with a triple and a single and scored twice for the Tigers while Josh Kelly had a pair of singles, two stolen bases, an RBI and a run. Jeremy Koughan had a triple and drove in a pair of runs.

Mark Goyetche went 2-for-3 to pace the Jays while catcher Craig Cooper had a triple and drove in a run.

Parker Gallant allowed four runs, two of them unearned, on five hits to earn the victory. He walked four and struck out four. Johnson allowed a hit and struck out three in three innings of relief.

Brodie Coffin went the distance for the Jays, allowing six runs on 10 hits while striking out four and walking three.
