STRATFORD, P.E.I. – Shawn MacDougall broke open a scoreless game in the third inning with a three-run home run Wednesday to pace the Alley Stratford Athletics to a 7-0 victory over the Morell Chevies.

Seth Hewitt recorded the Kings County Baseball League victory with Dan O’Shea pitching the final three innings for the save. Taylor Larkin was tagged with the loss for the visitors, who received relief from Brent Hicken.

Allister Smith was 2-for-3 for the Athletics while Scott Harper had two hits to lead the Chevies.

Clippers 10, Jays 0

The Cardigan Clippers got going early Wednesday in defeating the Charlottetown Jays 10-0 in five innings at Memorial Field.

Cardigan scored four runs in each of the first two innings and Charles MacLellan threw a two-hitter for the victory.

The Clippers were lead offensively by Jacob ter Beek, who was 2-for-2, and Kevin Macleod, who went 2-for-4, with each scoring twice.

Craig Lawlor suffered the loss for the Jays with relief help from Mark Gotell.
