MORELL, P.E.I. – Jordan Stevenson pitched a complete game three-hitter while striking out 14 and Nigel Fisher had a three-run double as the Northside Gill Construction Brewers beat The Alley Stratford Athletics 7-1 Wednesday.
The Bewers now hold a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven Kings County Baseball League final. They can clinch the title Sunday at 2 p.m. at MacNeill Field in Stratford.
Wednesday in Morell, after three ground outs in the top of the first inning, Stevenson found another gear and had at least two strikeouts in each of the next six innings while striking out six in a row at one point.
The Brewers plated five runs in the second inning started by a RBI singles by Nick Ryan and Bryan Linton before Fisher cleared the bases with two outs to go up 5-0.
After a Randy Taylor RBI single in the top of the third to score Grant Grady, Ryan hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the third inning to put the Brewers up 7-1.
Fisher, Ryan and Linton led the Brewer bats with two hits each while Pat Young was 1-for-1 with a sliding catch in left field in the top of the sixth inning to keep the A's off the bases.
Taylor, Grady and Corey Dougay had the A's hits. Jon Arsenault suffered the complete game loss.
