MORELL, P.E.I. — The Kings County Baseball League has a flurry of make-up games to decide first place and the final playoff spot before the end of the month.

Three teams are in a heated battle for top spot. The Alley Stratford Athletics (14-7) are currently in first place, one-half game ahead of both the Morell Chevies and Peakes Bombers, who have identical 14-8 records.

There is also a tight race for the fourth and final playoff spot, where three teams are also separated by one-half game.
The Northside Gill Construction Brewers (9-13) are tied for fourth with the Cardigan Clippers (8-12) while the Grant Thornton Tigers (7-12) are a half game back.

Peakes and Stratford have two games against each other to finish their schedule. They play Sunday at 2 p.m. in Peakes and a 6:30 p.m. start in Stratford on Wednesday.
The Chevies have two games left, one is with Northside Monday at 6:30 p.m. in Morell.

The Clippers and Tigers have three games to play against each other, a doubleheader at Memorial Field on Thursday and a single game Sunday, Aug. 25 in Cardigan. Northside and the Tigers both have one game left with the Charlottetown Jays and the Clippers and Chevies having one game left to play. There are no dates or times for these games as of yet.
The Tigers and Athletics played Friday night, but results were unavailable at press time.
