PEAKES, P.E.I. – The Peakes Tee Bombers staved off elimination Sunday afternoon as they defeated The Alley Stratford Athletics 6-2 to get back into the Kings County Baseball League semifinal.
The A’s hold a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five series with Game 4 set for Wednesday at 8 p.m. at MacNeill Field in Stratford.
Rob Phelan led the way offensively and defensively Sunday for the host Bombers, going 2-for-3 with a home run, a double and three RBI while also recording the win, throwing a four-hitter and striking out four.
The Athletics jumped out to an early lead in the second inning when Randy Taylor hit a two-run home run to left field, but that would be all they could muster off Phelan. The Bombers scored one in the second, tied in the fourth and pushed four more across in their half of the fifth to secure the win.
Johnny Arsenault took the loss with relief from Corey Dougay.
Sean Corcoran, Tyson McInnis, Dillon Doucette and Colin Myers also had hits for the Bombers while Dom Ryan, Dan O’Shea and Jacob Smith picked up the remaining Athletics hits.
