CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – The P.E.I. Eagles have completed the round robin 3-0 at the Eastern Canadian under-19 girls’ softball championship.
They will play Quebec, the top team in the other pool, at 4 p.m. with the winner advancing to the Sunday’s 4 p.m. championship game. The loser will continue in the playoffs with a 9:30 a.m. Sunday contest. All games are at the Central Field complex in Charlottetown.
The Eagles defeated Nova Scotia 7-5 Saturday afternoon after breaking a 5-5 tie with two runs in the top of the fifth inning.
Sydney Halliwell got the win in relief of Margaret Reynolds.
Robyn Power and Kaelyn White were each 3-for-4 and Hannah Sentner was 2-for-3. Eryn Hustler and Sydney Halliwell went 2-for-4 with Halliwell starting the Eagles fifth-inning rally to pull ahead with a leadoff single.
Power was named the team’s player of the game.
