Edwin Jackson won his second straight start since returning to Detroit, Victor Reyes drove in two runs, and the host Tigers edged the Seattle Mariners 3-2 on Wednesday.
Jackson (3-5) was recalled from the minors last week after signing with the Tigers last month. He gave up two runs on four hits and a walk in five innings Wednesday after beating the Kansas City Royals on Friday. Jackson, who previously pitched Detroit in 2009, fanned four.
Joe Jimenez recorded the last three outs for his second save.
Harold Castro contributed three hits, a run and an RBI for Detroit, which snapped a three-game losing streak and defeated Seattle for the first time in six games this season. Niko Goodrum added two hits and a run.
J.P. Crawford and Daniel Vogelbach hit solo homers to account for Seattle's runs. The Mariners, who beat the Tigers 11-6 on Tuesday, have belted seven homers in the first two games of the three-game series.
Marco Gonzales (12-10) allowed all three runs on 11 hits and a walk while striking out six in six innings.
The Tigers struck first with two runs in the second inning. John Hicks, Castro and Travis Demeritte hit consecutive singles to load the bases. Gonzales retired the next two batters, but Reyes delivered a single to center to knock in two runs.
Detroit made it 3-0 the next inning. Miguel Cabrera led off with a double but was thrown out at home on Goodrum's single. Goodrum advanced to second on the throw, and with two down, Castro hit an RBI single.
The Mariners broke through in the fourth on Crawford's one-out homer to left. Vogelbach's long ball with one out in the fifth made it 3-2.
Seattle had a chance to take the lead in the sixth. The Mariners loaded the bases with two outs, but reliever Gregory Soto struck out Vogelbach to escape the jam.
Seattle had two on and two outs in the seventh when Detroit catcher Jake Rogers caught Mallex Smith leaning too far off the first base bag and picked him off.
Tigers reliever Buck Farmer notched three strikeouts in the eighth.
