Teams meet again tonight in Charlottetown as regular season winds down

MONCTON, N.B. — The Moncton Fisher Cats scored three runs in the first inning en route to doubling the Charlottetown Gaudet’s Auto Body Islanders 6-3 Sunday night in New Brunswick Senior Baseball League action.

Max Ruel and Serge Vautour were each 2-for-3 with two RBI in the victory. Justin Cormier and Lance VanNoy each added two hits as part of the host squad’s 11-hit attack.

Jack Kraft and affiliate Josh Myers each had two singles for the Isles while Grant Grady had one. Logan Gallant had the lone RBI for the visitors.

Sam Lund improved to 5-2 with the complete game victory. He allowed three runs, including two unearned, on five hits and three walks while striking out four.

Jordan Stevenson (3-6) allowed five runs, including an unearned run, on nine hits and two walks in five innings of work. He struck out seven.

Affiliate Ethan Francis allowed a run on two hits and struck out one in an inning of relief.

Moncton (15-13) travels to Charlottetown tonight to play the Islanders (9-20) at 7:30 p.m. as the regular season winds down this week.

The Islanders close out the regular season with a doubleheader Saturday in Fredericton with the Royals (12-16).
