CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. — A look at this weekend’s Fiddler MacDonald Mosquito AAA Baseball Tournament in Charlottetown. Games will be played at Kiwanis Field and City Diamond.

Players to watch – Grayson Fraser (1B/P), Ken Hojo (2B/P) and

Gabe Waugh (SS/P).

Eastern Express

Coach – Eddie Curran

Players to watch – Declan Maclauchlan and Alex Curran participated in the skills competition at the Bob Donahoe Memorial Tournament two weeks ago in Moncton. Declan won the catcher competition and Alex won the pitching competition, being clocked at 60 m/h. Alex also pitched a perfect game in last year’s Atlantic championship final against Nova Scotia.

Sherwood Knights

Coach – Jamie Macdonald.

Players to watch – Will Dunn, the son of well-known hockey coach Shane Dunn, is a second-year player who has taking on the catching roll, is a team leader and bats fourth while leading the team in RBI. Parker Macdonald, son of former Charlottetown Fawcett’s fastball player Jamie Macdonald, is a second-year player who brings versatility to the Knights, having played almost every position including pitching and catching while being the team’s everyday shortstop.

Mid-Isle Mustangs

Coach – Scott Ellsworth.

Players to watch – The Mustangs are led by third-year player Rylan MacPhail and returning second-year players Calen Ellsworth, Chase Desroches, Gabe Wolfe, Drew Watts and Devon Doucette.

Summerside Chevies

Coach – Sean Campbell.

Players to watch – Max Desroche (SS/P), Ayden Mackay (P/C) and left-handed pitcher Evan MacFarlane, who also plays first base.

Fredricton Royals

Players to watch – Keaton Hill is an exceptional ball player with a very strong arm and a powerful swing. Adam Boyle is a left-handed pitcher and a top defensive first baseman. His strengths are his baseball smarts and his work ethic.

Halifax Mets

Players to watch – Jordan Rittenberg usually plays SS and catcher when not pitching. Logan Trewin catches and plays second base. Both second-year players who are smart in the field.

Dartmouth Arrows

Players to watch – Jace Evans (P/OF/1B) is a dynamic player.

Truro Bearcats

Players to watch – Reid Macdonald (P/IF) is an all-around athlete who brings a strong bat to the lineup. Malky Murphy (C/IF/P) is a strong hitter and son of former senior leaguer Darson Murphy.

Miramichi Twins

Players to watch – C Grady Burns leads the defence and offence with a .667. CF Alex Lavigne and 3B Cooper Burns lead the Twins with 3 HRs each while P Frank Washburn leads the team with 25 Ks in 13 IP.
