Clippers beat Athletics, will meet Brewers Monday to determine KCBL's final playoff berth

STRATFORD, P.E.I. – The Cardigan Clippers will play the Northside Brewers Monday night in Morell to determine the final playoff spot in the Kings County Baseball League.

Game time is 7 p.m.

The Morell Chevies, Peakes Bombers and The Alley Stratford Athletics have already clinched the top three playoff spots.

The Clippers defeated the Athletics 7-5 Friday night under the lights in Stratford.

The Clippers struck for two runs in their first at back only to have the A’s tie it in the bottom half of the inning.

The short-staffed A’s took a one-run lead in the bottom of the third, but the Clippers responded in the top of the fourth, scoring three runs to take a 5-3 lead.

The A’s bounced back with two in the fifth to tie the game 5-5.

Cardigan pushed one across in the sixth and added another in then seventh to seal the win.

Sam Walsh went the distance for the Clippers allowing six hits. Ryan MacIsaac started for the A’s and was relieved by losing pitcher Seth Hewitt in the third.

Pierce Conohan and Kevin Macleod both 3-for-4 to pace the Clippers attack. Carter Maclellan had a key double in the seventh to push across an insurance run. Grant Grady was 3-for-4 for Stratford.
