Bombers sit one win away from KCBL title

The Peakes Tee Bombers defeated the Stratford Athletics 6-4 on Sunday and took a commanding 3-0 lead in the Kings County Baseball League championship series.

Peakes can clinch the best-of-seven series with a Game 4 win Wednesday at Memorial Field in Charlottetown. Game time is 7:30 p.m.

On Sunday, Stratford opened the scoring in the first inning with one run before Peakes responded with four runs in the bottom half.

The A’s Sean MacDougall hit a three-run homer to tie the game in the top of the third.

Peakes then struck for two more in the fourth to gain the lead and would hold on for the win as the last out came while Stratford had the bases loaded.

The winning pitcher for Peakes was Josh Coffin while Johnny Arsenault suffered the loss.

Top batters for Peakes were Connor Myers and Pat Macdonald, each going 1-for-2, while Colin Myers, Matt Braldey, and Dillon Doucette were 2-for-4 at the plate.

Top batters for Stratford were Randy Taylor (2-3) and Dominique Ryan (2-4).

The game was held at the Morell field in honour of the late Trixie Dunn.
