STRATFORD, P.E.I. — Jonathan Arsenault and Shawn MacDougall each had three hits to pace The Alley Stratford Athletics to a 9-4 victory over the Peakes Bombers Wednesday in Kings County Baseball League action.
The win clinched first place for the A’s (16-7).
Brady Arsenault threw five innings of one-run ball for the victory while Jonathan Arsenault pitched the final two innings. Rob Phelan took the loss for Peakes with relief from Tyson MacInnis.
Phelan, Colin Myers and MacInnis had the hits for the Bombers.
Entering the final week of the regular season, the Cardigan Clippers (9-13), Northside Brewers (10-14) and Grant Thornton Tigers (8-14) are fighting for the final playoff berth. The Morell Chevies (15-8) have clinched second with the Bombers (14-9) set in third.
The Clippers and Tigers split a doubleheader Thursday at Memorial Field with Cardigan winning the second game 5-3 after dropping the opener 3-0.
Stratford is in Peakes on Sunday while the Tigers head to Cardigan. Both games are set for 2 p.m. The Tigers are scheduled to play the Charlottetown Jays Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Memorial Field while the Chevies are in Cardigan for a 6 p.m. contest to wrap up the regular season.
