Axewomen field hockey team off to strong start

Three Oaks hosts home opener Thursday

SUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — The Three Oaks Axewomen field hockey team is off to an undefeated start to the 2019 season.

The Axewomen recently won two games and tied another in a round-robin format at a Moncton tournament over the weekend. Three Oaks then opened the  P.E.I. School Athletic Association Senior Girls Field Hockey League regular season with a 3-3 tie against Charlottetown Rural at the Terry Fox Sports Complex in Cornwall on Monday.
Kylie Campbell, Brinley Gallant and Megan Moase scored for the Axewomen against Rural. Chloe McCormick was the player of the game for Three Oaks.
The Colonel Gray Colonels will provide the opposition for the Axewomen’s home opener on Thursday. Game time at Eric Johnston Field in Summerside is 5:30 p.m.
At the Moncton tournament, the Axewomen opened with a 13-0 victory over Harrison Trimble. Three Oaks then tied Bernice MacNaughton High 4-4 and shut out Moncton High School 6-0.
Gracie Gallant, Kylie Campbell and Callie McAlduff earned player-of-the-game honours for the Axewomen in Moncton.
