May I commend the Cape Breton Post for the superb coverage of Monday’s Remembrance Day services.
I especially want to mention the extensive reporting on the services held in Membertou. Many served, and sacrificed, but I can't recall where they have ever been specifically mentioned, or reported as they remembered their veterans.
One of the stories mentioned 3,500 in attendance at the Centre 200 service, a number that keeps growing each year. This demonstrates that Nov. 11 is of growing significance to so many.
Now comes the challenge to raise this to 4,500 - a full house. What a tribute and show of appreciation that would be to our veterans.
As the parade was marching out, the standing ovation was heartwarming, but at the same time brought tears in remembering the suffering of so many who fought for peace.
