On Wednesday I attended the rally in support of our offshore oil industry. As I listened to the words of the great speakers, two messages became very clear. Firstly, our province will become an even more desperate place to live without a vibrant and growing offshore oil industry. Secondly, the Trudeau government has to immediately provide financial support to stabilize and strengthen our offshore as well as enact regulatory and financial reforms to make our province a world-class competitor in the oil industry.
It seems the voters of Newfoundland and Labrador have elected a bunch of sycophants to represent us.
The people of this province have been waiting six months for assistance from the Trudeau government, with no results. I’m tired of hearing politicians state that talks are progressing and that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau understands our dilemma. All I care about are results, and none are forthcoming. What I find offensive and frustrating is the number of times the federal government has given Quebec financial support for Bombardier and its aviation industry. Why not us?
Why are MP Seamus O’Regan and the other Liberal MPs not publicly stating their outrage on the lack of support from Trudeau and their party? Their loyalty should be with the people of this province, and not the Liberals. It seems the voters of Newfoundland and Labrador have elected a bunch of sycophants to represent us.
Unless we immediately get what we need, both financially and otherwise from the federal government, we should start an “Anybody but Liberal” campaign for the next federal election, which may be coming in the next few months. I don’t care how people vote as long as it’s not Liberal.
Trudeau and his group of anti-oil minions are no friends of our province, and nothing will change until we kick him out of office.
