Why do some people suffer more than others?
DNA and heritage has so much to contribute. My entire family — all four — have passed away through mental health issues. Suicide, overdose, murder, depression. My sister, brother, father and mother have all passed away by way of mental health issues. And yet I’m still standing.
But in no way is my life a cakewalk. I struggle daily with mental health issues. I’ve tried everything humanly possible to pacify this deep, dark issue that affects so many of us, to no avail.
However, I am fortunate to live in a province where the health-care system does care about mental health, and for that I am grateful to and appreciative of all Eastern Health workers. They are first responders to those of us who are struggling emotionally. To all those at Eastern Health, I thank you.
