What you need to know about COVID-19: August 6, 2020
Rather than buying into the Atlantic bubble fantasy (where New Brunswick and Nova Scotia are still COVID-19 wild cards), Dwight Ball and his government should be initiating an aggressive staycation campaign to compel Newfoundlanders to wine, dine and travel in the province.
This campaign could also give Newfoundlanders the assurance that they are venturing forth in complete safety from COVID-19.
As soon as Dwight opens up the borders we will have COVID-19 again, and everything will, once more, have to be shut down.
The government will have erased all of its good work and sacrifice, and all of our good work and sacrifice. And we will all be back to less than square zero, where even greater economic damage will be exacted.
This is not rocket science. People are pouring into New Brunswick from Quebec (Canada’s COVID-19 hotbed).
Look at the United States. Open up too quickly, shut down again.
Wait until the fall when things in Atlantic Canada have stabilized more.
