OPINION: A holiday wish

A holiday poem for fellow Islanders in honour of the Christmas spirit that lives so beautifully throughout the year on P.E.I.

The angels arrive to tell the shepherds about the birth of Jesus during the live nativity pageant held earlier this month at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Charlottetown. Portraying the angels were, from left, Jams MacKay, Christopher MacKay and Harmony Arsenault. This is the 23rd year for the free performance, which has become a Christmas tradition for some P.E.I. families.

GUEST OPINION

The miracle of Christmas, is an every day celebration on Prince Edward Island.

It's in the sharing...overflowing with the spirit of giving, caring for one another, like family always does. Christmas is ever present in the grace entrusted to you and me.

It's in every blessing...the Spirit of Christmas, like a photograph, oh beautiful handprint, that lives on within us.

It's in the Christmas magic...sweet candy cane kisses and gingerbread hugs, twinkling lights, Santa Claus wishes, toys in stockings.

It's in every heart...each Christmas story written on our lives, singing carols by the fireplace, snow globe memories, snow sofly falling, all the beautiful moments.

It's in the open arms...forevermore held in our hearts, the magic of Christmas that fills the air is felt in each delightful embrace.

It's in every Christmas tradition...this wonderful season, family heirlooms decorating the tree, the garland, the wreaths, our merry-making, the delicious Christmas feast.

It's in the love...of that very first Christmas, a cherished treasure, our timeless gift as we gaze upon the manger and recall that starry night.

It's in every smile...that "hello neighbour" feeling, where everyone is family, it fills the air, the spirit in each of us.

Merry Christmas, a message so complete in love, joyously decorated, a reflection of our past present and future...forevermore that's the Island way.
