I don't trust the City of Summerside regarding the forfeiture laws. The City of Summerside doesn't enforce its no-smoking bylaws.

No teenager can place any faith in people talking about drug use when no one is dealing with people who smoke cigarettes or vape.

There is the phone number where people can complain against municipal employees smoking on the job and contractors working on municipal contracts and allow their employees to smoke on the job.

There are designated smoking areas where smokers can legally smoke, however smoking while performing their duties the employees are violating the no-smoking law.

If people are tired of discarded cigarette butts then take action. I was glad to see the City of Summerside acquire funding for a solar farm.

I want to know if Summerside is going to make contractors adhere to no-smoking regulations. It isn't hard to see contractors working in public for the City of Summerside carrying out contracts and permit the employees to smoke on the job while performing their duties.

The City of Summerside and other municipalities are under the Freedom of Information and Privacy Protection Act and it is time to halt all employees smoking in public and setting a poor example for teenagers.

The City of Summerside has to disclose under the act how many complaints the city has received and what action was taken.

The more complaints the City of Summerside receives the fewer cigarettes will litter our city and teenagers will learn what is good for the goose is good for the gander.

I want the City of Summerside to forfeit the Credit Union Place, city hall, police station, municipal buildings, city parks and new solar farm if the city isn't going to enforce no-smoking regulations.

John W. A. Curtis,
Summerside
