EDITOR:

Last Saturday’s Guardian featured an uplifting article entitled “Showing They Care” involving three different organizations that collectively raise funds for charitable causes. I was taken aback, however, by the title of one group of participants called “Guys Who give $hit.” While their charitable intent is certainly commendable, I wondered why in the world would they resort to including such a vulgar term in their organization’s title. Was it simply for its shock value in getting attention to their cause? In any case, I’m sure they could have come up with a less off-putting name and still reach the same goal.
