LETTER: UPEI president accolades

Alaa Abd-El-Aziz assumed his responsibilities as the sixth president and vice-chancellor of the University of Prince Edward Island on July 1, 2011. He was installed in a formal ceremony on Sept. 24, 2011.

On behalf of the Association of Atlantic Universities (AAU), we offer our congratulations to Dr. Alaa-Abd-El-Aziz, president and vice-chancellor, University of Prince Edward Island on being recognized as the 2020 Innovator of the Year by Atlantic Business magazine.

In addition to his outstanding contribution to the impressive expansion of UPEI and its contribution to the economic, social and cultural development as well as population growth of Prince Edward Island, Dr. Abd-El-Aziz has also served as the chair of AAU and chair of Atlantic University Sport.

He is an outstanding leader of the post-secondary education sector in Atlantic Canada.
