EDITOR:
I have just been reading about the 100 trees donated by CN to Upton Park and the 950 trees recently planted in Charlottetown. What wonderful additions to our city now and in the future. I first noticed the new trees in Upton Park just a few days after Hurricane Dorian and I was dismayed by their proximity to the major power line in that area.
Surely, the folks who planted these trees and the other 950 gave proper thought to the damage trees can cause to our power grid during high winds, including Dorian.
Upton Park offered lots of land for these plantings, where they posed no danger to power lines. Trees are planted for their future growth, shade, and habitat.
Their location always requires proper thought and planning.
