I am a Dutch-born Canadian and live on Prince Edward Island. I am also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion.
Over the past five years I have been helping the researchers at the Canadian War Cemeteries in The Netherlands in their quest to put a face and story to every grave.
I am presently looking for a picture of WW2 soldier Pte. John Clifford Rogers. He was born 19 August 1925 in Hope River, P.E.I. He was killed in action 3 March 1945 in Germany. He is buried at the Canadian War Cemetery in Groesbeek, The Netherlands. His parents were Andrew Rogers and Phoebe Gallant. He had three other siblings. The oldest Ferdinand Joseph, born in 1921 and served with The North Nova Scotia Highlanders. He landed on D-Day in France and was killed in action on 25 July 1944 and is buried at the Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery in Bayeux, France. The younger siblings were Walter Angus born around 1930 and Marie Gladys born around 1934.
The family lived at 7 Young St. in Charlottetown when both boys were killed.
I am trying to find relatives and also wonder if an obituary was published around the time of his death.
Anyone with a photo or information is welcome to call me at 902-437-6411 or email me at [email protected].
