This is how I see the situation to date. We had a total of 27 cases of COVID-19 virus cases on P.E.I. No one ever stayed at the hospital, and thankfully, no deaths.
The more important information we have is that there have been no local transmissions to date. The latest person was an international traveller and if healthy, will be released in the general public in 14 days or so. My confusion is that as an island, we have been isolated from the world for about six weeks or so.
Chief public health officer Dr. Heather Morrision stated a couple of weeks ago that nine people may die and 307 would be in the hospital by June 1. I don't think this will happen. What data was this prediction based on?
I understand if not locally transmitted, the cycle will disappear in 15 days or a bit longer. How many know that we had more deaths this spring from pneumonia symptoms than from this virus?
Therefore, if the coronavirus COVID-19 strain is rapid, or could be on P.E.I., where is it hiding?
