EDITOR:
Why not give “Wood-stovers” a break for this winter.
If you have downed trees cut up and don't burn wood yourself, why not help others out by paying it forward? If you have a pile of wood you feel could help someone heat their home this winter, place the wood near a walking or driving area at your home (not on the sidewalk or pavement) and place a cardboard sign saying, “FREE.”
Your pile of wood will be gone in no time. Your generosity will be talked about for years when stories of Dorian’s destruction are told. I don't burn wood myself but know people that would appreciate it.
To the people looking for wood: for the next month or two while driving out and about, look for wood piles, take a drive in the country and look for them too. Those that bother to look will benefit and the wood suppliers will feel good about helping other Islanders. To the wood owners: Please consider this project to help others.
