LETTER: Government can't order IRAC

Several weeks ago a committee that was looking into getting IRAC to appear before them and the chair of that committee Cory Deagle, behaved rather silly and rude. Now I know that Cory is new at this chair thing, but I believe that he should get up to speed about why IRAC exists in the first place.

IRAC was created as a body that would be arm's length from public, business and the government. This body’s job is to make rulings on both the private sector and the government decisions or request based on facts, period.

I for one certainly haven’t agreed with all the rulings they have made just as I don't agree with decisions the courts have made, but they have been created to do their job to the best of their ability. If government is allowed to demand that IRAC appear before them, at whim, the purpose of IRAC is useless.

Now I know that he has members of the Green party on the committee and we all know how they have no respect for their positions as MLAs , ie not voting when required by law to do so, maybe he is listening to them and he he is losing his ability to think. So work the system or abolish it. Don’t try to control it.
