Considering the high transmissibility rate of the virus currently causing the pandemic, everyone should ponder the use of facial coverings when interacting with those who are working to serve the public. We know that some unsuspecting individuals have contributed to the spread of the virus elsewhere. A simple barrier could reduce the number of droplets we propel towards others when we speak, sneeze or cough.
High-grade personal protective gear must remain in the hands of health-care providers and those known to be infected, but simple bandannas could be used by the general public when out and about. Like everything new, it may seem odd at first but, in time, we would grow accustomed to it while dealing with the current situation.
